Rear shock replacement

One of my shocks on the rear has an oil leek, I'm waiting to hear if the garage will cover it under the warranty they put on it when I bought , had it less than six months.

Has anybody replaced the rear shocks themselves? Is it a simple job? Where did you get the shocks? I'm new to the world of freelanders & have some basic know how, I don't want to start a job I can't finish, hopefully the dealership will sort it out.

I haven't replaced the rears yet but they are on the to do list,I did both fronts about a month ago which was pretty straight forward and I know the interior boot trim has to come out which is a pain. I bought Delphi from island 4x4 which are OEM and at a very good price.

Well I've replaced the rears today and it's a really simple job.I removed the drop link from the shock along with a couple of brackets, removed the 3 nuts inside the boot, the pinch bolt and that's it everything else stays in situ just a big pry bar and a hammer and its off.one of them is definitely no good it won't pump up and it's leaking a little bit.I also replaced the top rubber mounts while they were off as they had seen better days.

Shocks should be fitted in pairs. I'd want them to do both.

Both should be done at once. Can generate some odd balance issues changing only one. Even if I had to pay for the other one I'd get it done if it were me......best might be for them to sell to you at trade price? Worth a try if they won't pay for both! 2011 SD4 HSE Auto
