Scotland 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue
Saturday Service!

Had a spare morning to look over wifey's new (to us) Freelander. Knew it needed a wheel bearing, so had one ready to go on

Oil was fairly clean, but needing changed.
Removed the old oil filter, and opened the new one, to find they had sent a Disco 4 filter Evil or Very Mad Luckily, I had an OEM one in the shed, and refilled with Shell Low Ash 5W30
Air filter was as expected for 30k miles old
Fuel filter was changed, and primed with a bottle of injector cleaner

Certainly feels more smoother, and quicker off the mark Thumbs Up

Front hub was taken off the car, and I tried to hammer it out the hub. Didn't budge at all.
Took it down to my local MOT place, and pressed it out there. Took 15 tons of pressure to get it to move, and even then needed some persuading with a big hammer! No wonder it never came out with my hammer!
Drone from the front is now gone.

Then onto the brakes. I know from experience that rear brakes are guilty for seizing into the carriers, and this one was no exception, along with a seized caliper slide pin. Free'd off and cleaned up, and all was well again.
While it was in bits, I noticed a bit of free play in the handbrake lever. Took the rear discs off to inspect.
Someone had fitted new H/B shoes, springs and expander to the O/S, but not to the nearside Rolling Eyes
Tried to lube, and free off the N/S expander, but again, it was having none of it.
For reasons that I can't even explain, I had a new expander in the shed, also. This was fitted, handbrake adjusted up, and now has a clean bill of health! Thumbs Up

And then she asked if I can wash it for her... Rolling Eyes

Still, it's all brownie points for the next thing I do wrong! Laughing
