Do they forget they have souls? they are custodians of peoples wills and wishes not businessmen. If land is be-quested to them for wildlife then thats it full stop, If they want to deviate from that they should hand it back (too whom I dont know but they cant just sell it) At work

not suitable! its farmland not an open-cast mine, contrary to popular myth wild birds love farmland, Filling the place with houses tarmac and the domestic cats is not going the help the birds.

Up here we have a lot of abandoned opencast mine sites due the bottom falling out of the market when it became cheaper to ship coal in from arcoss the North Sea, and then the coal plants started to close due to the "environmental concerns". It is amazing how quickly nature has taken over again, and as more and more plants spring up more flying and walking creatures return. As the land is now useless to mankind for almost every thing else apart from Sci-Fi film sets they may very soon become wildlife havens. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

Like I say, not a lot of detail. Could be a super large monoculture for instance? You would think that if it had any significant importance then they would not be able to get planning approval, at least without some extensive mitigation measures.
