United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey
Colour Coding

Ive just bought an 2011 XS td4 in Stornaway Grey and there's quite a bit of black plastic which I think needs to be colour coded . looking at some of the threads obviously a lot of you have done it - is there anything I should know or be aware of when letting a paint shop loose on the car - my car has also got the plastic strips halfway up the doors so those will need doing too! I think that once done along with some bigger wheels and a rear spoiler it should look pretty pukka. I'm going too take some before and after photos but Id like to know if any of you have come across any problems or pitfalls when doing it.
Thanks

Had mine done earlier this year, no real problems other than there is slight colour difference between the sprayed plastic and the original paintwork. I expected this as the original paint was 6 years old and the car is Alaska White (slightly off pure white) its not really noticeable and the paint shop said it will buff out with proper detailing. You may not notice this with yours being Grey.
Also the bottom edge of the door trims is made of rubber, presumable to allow for you catching the door on high kerbs/rocks when you open the door so this couldnt really be painted due the flexibility in the rubber. Again it doesnt stand out.

Hi Rog
Thanks for the reply - I like your result - Do you mind me asking what you paid to have it done?

PM sent mate with costs

I wanted to try and get a factory look of a higher spec model, but have a couple of personalised things like the coded boot handle, black grill and D pillars (although I nicked that idea from LRNUT on here Laughing )

Thanks Rog
The strange thing with the My2011 is that the XS in TD4 isn't colour coded but the SD4 is. That said the Front end is fully painted but the door mouldings and sills aren't so Its probably not going to be a big job ( Mine also has the black plastic door protector strips which also need doing too. I'll post some pics when I get a minute.
