First tow with the new Freelander today. 135 miles to Corfe Castle, Dorset. I cannot believe how good it is! It rides nearly as well as without anything on the back. Hugely impressed, and very powerful as well. Average mpg 29.7 which I consider to be quite respectable.

Nice looking outfit there! The FL2 effortlessly towed our last 2 caravans (a Lunar Quasar 524 and our current van, a Swift Challenger 480, but not both at the same time ) and we were quite impressed by the fuel consumption, which was just a tad worse than yours at around 27.5mpg.
