Had a good drive out with a dealer technician who picked up the vibration in the gear lever and the dashboard trim. THis was a new problem for him; he had only had to put new gear change cables on one car up to now (and not for a vibration).

I then drove him out in one of their manual demo cars with 4000 miles on - and it's almost the same. Perhaps not quite as noticable but there nonetheless once you have tuned in to the feel. THe rumble must therefore be a Freel2 feature and not a fault!

Technician is going to talk to the area service support person for LR and get back to me if there is anything that might improve the level of mine to at least that of the demo car. In the meantime, I will monitor it to see if it gets any better or worse and drive round the 'hot spot' which is about 1750. Even if there is no quick fix, I have 3 years to go again under warranty if it gets any worse.

40 miles per gallon (7.06 l/100 km) and still loving it despite the rumble!

I've now been out with the regional service advisor (Roger, who covers Sheffield to Shetland!). He picked it up as a body boom at 1650 or so in all gears, most noticed in 6th becuase its a cruising speed. He confirmed this by driver a demo car and juding mine as "typical"
There was an early technical bulletin advising lubrication of cables and he suggested this be done as a precautoin and just moving the cables may change the way they touch and (Possibly) trasnmit vibration to the body.

Done on Friday - little if any difference noticed so far. Got some miles to do this week so a reall chance to assess any change.

By the way - when cables lubricated, fuse taken from PTC heater pending arrival of replacement parts early in New Year - see my post in r"ecall???"
