Looking at the history of my car, I would agree the cost is worth it. Unsure if a DMF issue would be covered by the LR warranty though.... FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

The DMF is one of the few parts I found in the LR extended warranty documents to be explicitly stated to not be covered if I remember correctly. |

What would be really interesting would be to find out the statistics behind these warranty schemes. We have had 4 FL2s, only one has had no problems and the other 3 have had repairs costing well above the price of a warranty. At that rate they would be losing money, or are the people on this forum just the unlucky ones? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

They make their money from the people who buy the warranties, but then dont make a claim. If 3 people, each paying £500 for a years cover, dont make a claim, but the fourth guy makes a claim for a £1300 DMF replacement, then the repair work is covered.

Yes, that's how insurance works, however in my case the repairs have come to over £5k on three cars so there must be a lot of cars out there with no claims to cover that. If we knew the statistics then we could make an intelligent guess on the economics. Its a bit like a guy I knew who lived in London and never paid for car parking, he got fined every so often but reckoned that it was cheaper than paying normally. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I'm a naturally cautious person when it comes to things like this. Would rather know anything that comes along would "likely" be covered. Always something that wont be though. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Took the plunge and renewed the LR warranty for another year. It helped that LRCS made a wee contribution to it seeing as I haven't exactly had a reliable product. That was much appreciated.

It's about being able to sleep at night whilst owning a Freelander with a warranty. |
