England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

I also needed to change rear pads @40K as not much left. Fronts had plenty left . Had car since 9k miles so must assume they were originals. Silver 2009 HSE

Just tagging this onto an older thread.

Changed my rear brake pads today, think they were a bit low!

First set of pads I've fitted in the five years of ownership.

According to the paperwork they have managed 80,000kms, which is pretty good I would say.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

Changed my rear pads at 46k recently, front ones original I was talking to a guy with a Jaguar XF recently with an EPB and he says he has had the same experience.
Just something to add to the conversation though. I replaced all four tyres 22k miles ago and just measured that the rears are wearing slightly more than the fronts (5mm front and 4mm rear on Wranglers) !

Is this an EPB issue on late FL2s with the Evoque running gear 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Nothing unusual about rear pads wearing quicker than fronts even though it sounds bizarre that they do.
Had same issue on a previous VW Passat and my wife's current VW Tiguan is on its 3rd set of rear brake pads compared to 2nd set on the front. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Interesting, just back from service and MOT and they said my rear pads fine but front need changing , don't know if they originals on just over 44k but had a bit of a shock when dealers said they could do them for ONLY £156. Shocked

Genuine pads are about £85 if the dealer has quoted you £156 fitted then that’s not bad, Just double check that the price is for genuine.

I must be hard on pads then.
The FL2 rears used to last 20k to 25k miles, discs about 75K - only replaced the shoes once in 180k
The fronts lasted 60K and the disks needed changing every other set of pads.

I used to carry a spare set of rear pads in the boot and the tools to change them - easy enough in a dinner hour.

sad thing is the DS pads seem to be Ok at 40k, but the front disks have warped - can't really put it down to warranty as they have turned a light shade of blue, so hard braking, or hard pads? Bit of both I recon, but they did used to squeal something rotten when cold Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
