From the EC regulations, I don't think there is a UK law as such, the Kia Sportage gets around the regs quite easily, just shortsighted Korean attitude to safety that they didn't dim them.

The daytime running lamp on the relevant side of the vehicle may be automatically switched OFF during the entire period (both on and off cycle) of activation of the direction-indicator lamp.

If the daytime running lamp and the direction indicator lamp are reciprocally incorporated, the electrical connections shall be such that the daytime running lamp on the relevant side of the vehicle is automatically switched OFF during the entire period (both on and off cycle) of activation of the direction-indicator lamp.
The lamps on the Kia are not so placed so they don't have to dim.

So if both DRL and indicator are housed in the same unit (Land Rover) then the DRL have to dim by law, but if they are seperate units (Citroen, Kia etc) then DRL stay on full permanently ?
