United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Barolo Black
Key unlocking door, but not unsetting alarm

Hi all

So I've picked up my freelander a few days ago. it came with two keys fobs, one of which looks like it had been well used (all the paint rubbed off the buttons apart from the panic button). the other is worn as well but not so much.

the normal key (unworn) works fine in all ways. the worn key however acts oddly. It will unlock the driver door (only the drivers door) but if you then open it, the alarm sounds. if you try to put the key in the docking port the car spits it back out.

Any advice?

Thanks

It may be that the battery is on its way out, you can get these changed or diy if you handy with a soldering iron. If it is worn that bad it might be worth buying a new one, which you will need to get programmed to the car. About £240 ish at main dealer.

I'm not familiar with earlier model FL2'S but later models have 2 point entry feature which means that press once the drivers door only unlocks press again (or twice) and remaining (all doors unlock). On MY15 this can be configured on the Car Comfiguation set up on the dash and steering wheel controls. My FL1 V6 also had same feature so I'm sure earlier model FL2's do aswell but it may be only "Dealer configurable" on earlier models. This could have something to do with your alarm!
Maybe ask someone with a similar model year as yours!
