Auto box query

Auto box question. Do they pull away in 2nd gear when starting off. The reason why I ask is I did read a members post not long back with a auto problem stating the same. When I'm in common shift and it changes down on its own and comes to a stop it only gets to 2nd gear but not 100% sure if its do this when in drive mode. Been trying to count the gear changes with no real success to be sure. It doesn't feel like it is it only something I notice the other day and with never owning a auto FL2 before I don't know if this is the norm. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

In my FL1 V6 with command shift that's exactly what happens. In normal drive second gear is selected from standstill whereas on Sport Mode 1st gear is selected from standstill.
I would assume the FL2 same set up but I've not really explored that side of mine yet. Will now and get back to you. Any excuse to go for a drive! Laughing

I'm pretty sure even in "D" if you flatten the accelerator pedal it will select first but only if you floor it! In the V6 this was ok as it was a screamer of an engine, the diesel in the FL2 not as such. I think mine did it once but as I've only 3500km on the clock I didn't really continue but it seemed a waste of time as it's far happier in a higher gear! Maybe once it's freed up a bit it will be more suitable.
Have a try and get back to me, I'll also see and let you know! Thumbs Up
Oh and good point about trailer hitch, Yes as soon as trailer hitch active 1st gear always selected and modified change pattern activated regardless of sports mode or normal.

As per original post and original question:

1. If you are in Command Shift and you let the autobox to shift down on its own, yes, it wont go lower than 2nd when you come to a stop.

2. If you are in Drive or Sport, it will always shift down to 1st when you come to a stop.
I can say this with 100% certainty after I've made this modification to my instruments.
