Yes they are good, providing you go for the correct one. You want to go for a custom remap, so it's individual to your car. Some or most company's have a remap stored on there computer, that they use on all freelanders. You want them to make it for your car as every car is different in the way it runs and the way you drive.

Also before paying make sure you have a proper test drive that you choose and drive it every way you can to ensure your happy with it.

Just do it !
I did my LR3 and then my wifes FL2 TD4. The FreeLander goes like a rocket now.
Didnt make much of a difference in the consumption, but the overall feel of both cars was much improved.
Its worth every penny.

1. worth it for performance but no better MPG for me (then again I do press on a bit)
2. Gary at Alive Tuning did my custom remap - excellent service
3. no problems at all - car just goes better
I always remap our cars - even when brand new - carefully choosing a specialist knowledgeable about the car and willing to work on it rather than just simply uploading a standard product and then saying 'off you go'.

Mine has been re-mapped with Superchips Bluefin since Jan 2008 and it has not caused me one issue. Drives really nice and if you take your time the mpg does improve.

But mine only ever runs on V-Power diesel. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I considered this, however there are threads here saying the manual version is really not suited to chipping.
Something to do with clutch and dual mass flywheel being fragile.

For me the jury is still out.
