lr2 rear wash wipe

The rear wash wiper is not washing. It wipes OK but does not wash. The local non-rover garage says that the pump is OK. Presumably there is either a blockage or there is a kink in the pipework. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and what is the solution. Presumably the pipeworkwill have to be traced from the reservoir at the front as far as the outlet at the back. The local garage does not know the route of the pipework. Can someone tell its route so tthat I can tell the garage and thereby minimize the labour cost. They have already said it could be expensive despite having halve the labour cost of the main dealer. Any assistance great fully received. (First reg DEC 2011).

has it ever been working since you owned the car?

have you tried removing the rear high level break light assembly (very easy to do) and checking the nozzle there?

it might just be a blocked nozzle and I cant see a random kink appearing in the feed through the car

The most likely cause is a joint in the pipe coming apart. You could start by having a look at the joint from the pump, and checking for any puddles anywhere else. Presumably the washer bottle is full? I think I read somewhere that the rear wash-wipe will stop working before the front one (different outlets from the reservoir) although that may well be some other car - the memory is very hazy. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Although the rear washer is currently inoperative, it worked OK until just after the 3 year service by the local main dealer???!!! I have looked at the rear high level brake light and can see no external screws. Is it necessary to remove some internal trim to get to the inside of the unit? To me d.I.y means 'destroy it yourself', so dis-assemblying the car makes me very nervous. How easy is it to unfix the trim, and how easy is it to refix? Thanks for further technical advice.

Rear (tailgate) trim has two screws, one in each internal handle. Once these are unscrewed a swift pull will have it off. Search YouTube as you can watch someone do it, I think from PowerfulUkltd.

No screws I think - the top piece is just a pull-off. A previous poster wrote:
- yep, the interior trim at the centre top of the tailgate pulls off- its located by three plastic clips. Make sure you pull it off from the glass side as there are two locating tongues (one at each end) on the door seal side of the trim panel.

I think there are photos on here somewhere if you search diligently. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Daft question here, the garage says the pump is ok, can you hear the pump working when you try to operate it??

Years ago I had one of the new Vauxhall Antara's, the rear wash pipe was made up from a series of pipes joined together. When the weather was extremely cold in the winter of 2009 the pipe joints came apart on several locations due to ice forming in the pipe. At one point I had water coming into the passenger footwell, then another time water came out from underneath the boot. Maybe the same has happened with your car? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

If the front window washes then the pump is OK.
