tow bars

Hi again I'm back with a question what to fit.i have been quoted £350.00 to supply and fit a Thule detachable tow bar along with electrics, after reading several messages on here I think that's a fait price.I would like to tow a horse box with two horses approx 1500 weight, think freelance 2 can do this legally. Any advice welcome thanks

Hi Nick. First thing, a horse box and 2 horses can easily exceed the 2 ton limit of a Freelander. Do double check the weights.

If you want a detachable bar, I would avoid the Thule. There have been too many on here (including me) who have had trouble with the LR supplied Thule/Brink fitting having "play" and thumping over bumps. The Westfalia has a good reputation as does the Witter. Take a look at what PF Jones offer.

I will second what Bob said about the Thule Brink detachable tow bar. I have had two replacement bars fitted under LR warranty and the latest one is showing the movement problem again.

I would go for a Westfalia, may be a bit expensive but I had them fitted to two BMW 3 series tourers with no problems.
