Anyone has viseo of how to remove centre dashboard speaker cover? Trying to fix irritating ticking/rattling coming from the headunit. MY13 sd4 se. Non navi unit. Cheers!

Well, at last, I posted a "how to" request to remove the center speaker cover, was afraid of breaking the tags, now I can fix that annoying rattle.

Yup really easy. Unfortunately the entire front panel is so flexy and i can't isolate the noisy part. The plastic is rather cheap. I gave up. Thought i can put in some double sided sponge tape or felt but thee is no single location.

Did you try any of the torx screws or taking the radio surround off? It could be something underneath? Did you go for a drive with the speaker surround off so you could get a better idea of where the rattle is coming from? Don't give up!

The radio seems fine. But the front panel is making all kind of ticking sound when i twist it a little. No, didnt drive around but i can reproduce the same tyle of sound just by pressing or flexing it. It's just plastic to plastic interface making the sound. It's not very loud but the problem is once you tune your ears to listen to it, you hear it all the time when moving off or braking. Gets annoying.
If you have not heard it, dont try to listen for it. It will irritate you no end once you learn to hear it

Maybe try silicone lubricant all around the fastenings and the edges ?

I had my dash apart a number of times to try to fix a buzz that appeared on certain road surfaces and became very annoying. Sounded like something loose. No joy. Then I saw on here that there is a screw that can work loose in the air inlet under the left front wing, accessed with a long socket (10mm as I recall) by removing the indicator repeater.
Nipped this up and quiet ever since. Trouble is I can now hear the diff grumbling.
