Strange stereo issue

Got an odd one for you.

I've noticed over the last week or so that when I'm listening to my music quite loud (vol at about 22) via aux (haven't tested with anything else) that the volume sometimes dips and phases out a wee bit then comes back in at the set volume. Almost as if it is a safety cut out if the signal is too loud or something.

Does anyone know if the Alpine single CD head unit has this? Worried I have yet another problem with this sodding car.

Also noticed that the car is taking a few slow turn overs in the morning to get going making me wonder if I have the earth lead issue or a low battery and might be related, ie the amp needs too much power or something.

Thanks. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Definitely not speed related - and it should get louder as I go faster, not quieter Smile FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Was yours cutting out completely or just sounding like someone was turning the volume down a bit? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I find a difference sometimes which seems to relate to the volume when the track was ripped onto the MP3. One album in particular always replays the tracks from it quieter. Otherwise no issues to report. 12MY 61plate FL2 TD4 auto GS Orkney Grey Roof spoiler full size spare

It was like turning down volume and sometimes music was ok but the singing very faint. The connector in the plug was not making proper contact with the socket

This certainly isn't a source issue in terms of volume equalisation. These are proper purchased tracks which have no issues on headphones or other devices. It does sound like at the system is struggling at points when there is a lot of bass - the sub kicks in then the whole thing turns down a bit, then comes back up. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

on both my FL2 I found the aux socket in the centre console to be of poor quality.
Its supposed a 3.5mm jack size but actually seems to be about 3.6/3.7mm so the 3.5mm cable doesnt connect properly at all times. I also used to find there was massive random intermittant interference. Tried several cables and always the same issue.

I gave up with the aux cable for 2 reasons , I couldn't be bothered with the wire + the sound wasn't any better than Bluetooth . I bought a micro 32g usb stick from Maplins for about £25, works a treat and it holds most of my music collection. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Aux or CD are my only options as mine is too old to have music over Bluetooth.

As for dodgy cables, I don't think it is that. I've had issues like that on other audio kit and they show up as crackles, cut outs or background noise. My issue is a definite lowering of volume or lack of power. The car is in getting a new transfer box so have asked if they can check the battery for me in case that has an effect. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

get a parrot BT kit fitted, its worked great for me in my 2008 GS spec. Thumbs Up

hands free speech, SD card in the parrot display screen, line in via 3.5mm jack or usb port (both routed into glove box) or bluetooth streaming of stored music. You can even listen to DAB streaming via tune-in radio app or Spotify (free or subscribed)

When you say "fitted" is that in place of the stock head unit? I have considered replacing my head unit but buying all the extra bits to keep parking sensors etc working makes it very costly. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

There is a possibility of a dry joint in the circuit, when initially plugged in it makes full contact, as the time goes on the jack settle to a position where there is resistance, this will be be due to a light coating on either the jack or in the socket. Two options, change the socket. or try cleaning the plug and socket then lightly coat with petroleum jelly my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
