Had my power steering filter and steering changed under warranty on my 07 Freelander 2. Think at the time it was changed if you complained but not a recall. |

Given some of the garbage that comes out of China, I find this story a bit rich and smacks of protectionism, the Chinese people are becoming wealthy and able to buy overseas products, there is becoming an imbalance in imports/exports of these products and the Chinese authorities are clamping down. If JLR had a Chinese factory producing the Evoque this story would never have happened. I import some Chinese dental equipment, the parent company is actually German, the Chinese are copying their own stuff now, the cheaper it is the worse the quality, it's appalling and the Chinese do absolutely nothing to stop it. As for the OP's comment on diff problems, read the threads on this forum and do the maths of how many have had a problem, it is far less than you think and in reality the issue is nothing more than a whine ... Hmm, sounds familiar. |

The Chinese are very busy stamping, Made in Aust, Germany, UK, etc on their own products. It's much more profitable than actually importing originals. Probably a good reason to recall. Diff problems on FL2 effect the very few and not the majority. Its not exactly a major issue. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

If it's a frightener by the Chinese government, then no problems, if it is a fairly low % I doubt JLR will worry, if it was serious I suspect that they will be looking at ZF for compensation, it ain't the only prestige car sold in China with that box, perhaps some of our EU colleague countries may be passing greenbacks to discredit LR due to sales not achieving targets.

Really, talking to our neighbour who works at a local Indy, they have five Freelander 2's in the workshop at the moment, one for a Service and four having Diff Bearings, one of which is having its bearings done again after 35k since having them done. Also had mine done at 22k, so I think it's a bit more then very few. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |
