filler flap wont unlock

My filler flap wont unlock when I get to the petrol station and want to add fuel. I use the central locking to lock and unlock the doors but the filler flap remains firmly locked. I then slide off the flap cover, bend the plastic hinge out of the way with some struggle, get my hand in and unscrew the filler cap. Its not an ideal situation. This is an intermittent problem. Anyone have a solution, and is there any link between this and my continued problem with overnight flat battery/ non starting issues which I have been unable to resolve (even after fitting a second earth strap.

can you not use a manual release. normally in the boot under a flap or similar,, it should be in the hand book?

then you maybe need a new solenoid on the lock At work

Is the Tailgate release working, it shares the same fuse as the Fuel Flap Question
Just a thought, you cannot open it with the doors locked. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

the tailgate opens ok with the fob.
BTW is there a button inside the vehicle that opens the tailgate from within. Its been poorly designed if you need to take out the key to open the tailgate

yes, I make sure all the doors are unlocked. its annoying as its an intermittent problem, sometimes its fine and then its not.

Yes there is a button underneath, in the middle between the two number plate lights. It is this button that normally fails due to water ingress.

Yes. If the vehicle is locked (with you inside?) press the "unlock" button on the dash. This will unlock all doors including tailgate. To actually open it, no, you need to use the button on the (outside of) the door. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Don't know about this functioning on all year models but definitely does on my MY10. Only way to know for sure is for you to try it. MY2010 TD4 HSE Santorini Black, 19" Alloys, Almond Leather, Lux Pack, Rear Spoiler, Adaptive Xenons

i tried on mine and it does open in a manner of speaking but not with enough energy for the tail to actually open. when I pulled on the handle it was still half stuck in the mechanism and I couldn't open it or for that matter push it back in to shut so I had to take out the key fob and unclick it
