Aftermarket head unit - anyone done this

Want to replace the head unit on my 09 FL2 fitted with Mid Line system

Can it be done and what are the pitfalls

I seem to have got rid of the hiss so not needed to change now

In responce most people on this forum have only upgraded the low line system which seems to be much easier
