Free LR check mid way between services

I received a call today saying that since my 58 td4 was serviced by LR last September (I had free servicing for 2 years with the purchase) I am eligible for a free check, and would I like to go there in March. I will, because I have nothing better to do, and will happily drink some coffee while wandering around the showroom, so other than being a very obvious ploy to extract some cash, which won't work as I do all my own repairs / maintenance, why do they bother? Has anyone else been offered one of these, any thoughts? Is this a LR country wide thing as I haven't heard of it being done before. At the very least they will wash the car, and then I can get back to polishing Very Happy

Sounds like a ploy that Pratstones use, like they told me I needed rear pads on mine in the September, but I declined to let them fit them as I knew they were still ok, they then offered me the free check in the December, only to be told that I would need new pads at the next service, but would be fine till then. Well if you have the time then I would go for it. At least they will have it up on a ramp and be able to spot things that you probably won't see just rolling on the floor underneath. Think of it as generating a free "to do" list. I bet you will find some mention of new pads required for a start.

I do enjoy my to-do lists! I'll end up with something that has no genuine LR parts, except for a badge maybe :p
