Epb

Hello

anybody notice the epb not releasing when it should? Flat road- turning right from standstill and didn't release. Had to push clutch again. This coincides with my stop start stopping working. Are there linked switches on the clutch pedal somewhere?
Can put up with no stop start, but don't want brakes to start playing up. 16000 miles by the way. Cheers

Dean

Does it work if you turn the stop-start off?

Dunno. Will check tomorrow to see if it keeps happening. Maybe just a 'blip'

On a manual the EPB releases once the vehicle is at the biting point. EPB auto release failure is quite common however amongst the LR range. This may seem a silly question but were all the car doors closed as if they are not properly shut the EPB will not auto release.

Hi. Yes all doors were shut. I'd already driven about 15 miles . Not very happy if the auto release fails after 1 and half years and 16000 miles!

It could well be a technical one-off glitch the freely is like a mini computer. See if it happens tomorrow also....

I'm sure cars are much too complicated now. Replaceable modules etc, but hopefully don't need replacing too often. I'm hoping for a glitch, even if I do have warranty

Had two minor glitches where the EPB was manually released and while moving forward slowly there was a loud grating noise and the car lurched as if the brakes had re-applied. Both times when moving off in slow traffic. Will mention it at next service but not overly concerned. _________________

I had problems with my epb on my new my14, it would not release especially in reverse, had a lot of burning smells from trying to force it free. Worked most of the time though. The dealer reset the parking module and it has been fine since, they said they have had quite a few fl2s with these problems and advised that I pull forwards before reversing. (Not much use in car parks).

Mine is an auto though. No stop start.

I remember this was a common problem years ago when I test drove the Disco 3.

the salesman actually had to fiddle about and disconnect it to get going again.
( he used a long wire with a loop which was carried in the car all the time )

I would have thought that after all this time they would have cracked it !!

Makes you wonder what the 2CV mechanics had to do all day. Laughing
