I also had a gap between the roof and the rear cap on the roof rails - and even lost 2 caps - dealer told me the wind got under them! Whilst the car was in for a service they looked at the rails again, said nothing was wrong, but surprisingly when the new caps were fitted they were now flush fitting!
If you do have a gap, I suggest you get the dealer to take another look at them.

I have been wondering about removing the rear cross bar on my roof rails as there is sometimes some wind noise.
I see that agoggiti has done this.
I was travelling out of Leeds on the M621 early this evening and saw a black FL2 with roof rails and the cross bar removed, travelling on the opposite carriageway.
As I only carry a couple of lightweight cycles I wondered if anyone else has removed the cross bar and If so do they re fit it when carrying anything on the rails ?

The rear cross bar on LR rails is designed as a wind deflector - if you got wind noise ( ) it may be you got the wrong one fitted as they are different for with/without sunroof.

The whole reason for me not getting LR mounted rails was exactly for this reason, choosing detachable Thule type when I need roof transport (skis in winter). 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
