As above , KYB or wait for the Bilsteins. Had both makes and can't fault either , also fitted cheap Britpart ones which were took off as they were faulty and fitted genuine LR .

The KYB's were fitted to my wife's 2007 Fl2 and there was no significant difference to the ride , it was a more wallowy Fl2 compared to the 2009 I had at the time which had the genuine ones fitted . The Bilsteins were fitted to my 2012 Sd4 and there wasn't any difference over the original LR ones on that . I would say they were all very similar imo . If I was to pick out of the three , I'd probably go Bilstein.

Bilstein may have a firmer strut than the OEM Bilstein replacement that I currently run both front and back. Give them a call and ask them. IMHO, the Billy rears are firmer than the stock version but I am running 19" summer rims and tyres as well. You can mix KYB and Bilsteins but the same on both fronts, etc.. The LR2/FL2 is quite heavy with quite a bit of understeer, to compensate I always run about 2-4 lbs air pressure lower in the back tyres. |

Yes bilstein is a slightly firmer ride, but it doesn't bother me and my wife actually likes it better than the OEM.

Thanks for all the replies, talking of the springs then, is there a definitive way of testing the springs. Mine have some corrosion on the rears, but other than that I can’t tell whether the springs are bad, shocks are bad, rubber bushes are bad or a combination of all three. |
