question of the day

Hi all

If i am parked outside ( curb side ) of the house i sometimes like to go out and start her up and let her warm up while i go back into the house and get ready ( put on a coat or such like ) I was wondering what would happen if i was to start her up then use the spare key fob to lock the fl2?

Would it

A ) shut the engine off lock the fl2

B ) shut the engine off

C ) lock the doors keep engine on

D ) Do nothing

E ) explode lol

Have not tryed it yet myself, thought it would be wise to ask first

Mines goes 'bleep bleep' doesn't lock doors.
Mercedes used to have a keyless start that if the key went out of range the car would cut out, I think you can drive the FL2 s far as you can and it won't stop until you tell it to.

Subaru also have the range cut out its approx 6 metres on the STI. I did wonder if the FL2 had a range cut out ... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I walked away from my car in the close recently, about 100 yards away, it simply says 'Smart key not found' but kept running, not sure if it will allow D to be selected, I suspect it would.
The Merc system along with Subaru would seem better, I know if the battery went flat or the signal became week it could possibly stall the car, Land Rover have opted for fail safe rather than fail dangerous.
The ability to press and hold the panic button on the fob to cut the engine may be a good idea?
Or just do as I do, get in and drink coffee until all is clear, doesn't take long Whistle

Won't the boys in blue take a dim view of this?
-Isn't it illegal to leave a car running and unattended on the highway?

And I'm sure your insurance won't pay out if somebody hops in and makes off with it....

Judging by the notices in the rear window and side windows it looks like she was selling it, perhaps he wanted to take it on a test drive....

Perhaps ask the Canadians most cars there have the option of remote start with the doors locked, JLR products are no exception. USA is different as there is no requirement for an immobiliser in most states. Time for a similar mod here? or is the winter pack just as good? my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Like the way most people don't stop to help lol typical uk right there!

Im not overly worried about someone trying to drive off as my dads defender is behind and my mums car is normaly infront and I have to shunt 50 times to get in and out of the gap Laughing Plus like the lady I have cctv looking over it all the time Thumbs Up

Would be a great thing to have though, to be able to start it up then lock the doors, maybe using the spare key in the door lock would work?

maybe for next winter might fit the aux heater with a timer and remote Twisted Evil Think you can get one that does water and air, so will heat the cab at the same time Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto
