Has anybody experienced water leaking in through the high level brake light? I noticed recently a dribble of water on the inside rear screen when I'm parked on a downward facing slope. Can the brake light be removed easily so that I can apply some silicone?

Any help most appreciated.

sadly, not a totally uncommon issue.

Possible causes.

1. leak from rear wash pipe
2. leak from the foam seal around the edge of the light
3. crack in the light

Easily fixed.


The plastic trim cover that hides the clips that secure the light is easily removed.
From there you can identify the source of the leak
Not sure I would use silicone sealant.

try the forum search feature and look for "Water leak" with the quotes, there are a few good tips under the maintenancve and mod sub forum 

Its a known fault, Two my LR2's has had this problem. Do a search on the forum.

Thanks for this advice. No obvious or visible cracks anywhere so likely to be 2 or 3. Sounds quite straightforward DIY - and less trouble than booking in with 'local' dealer 30 miles away only to be told usual " couldn't find any leak sir"!

Ive put some on mine as well, but there's quite a lot of condensation inside the light itself, so I've probably sealed that in!

Should have said I noticed that with mine too......
