Just had my AA family breakdown cover renewal come through. I just have roadside and relay. 4 people covered, any car. £234!!! That's double what it was last year. It was less (£207) if I went as a new customer so not much loyalty there! We've never had cause to use it since we took it out two years ago so its not like I'm a bad customer. The same cover with the RAC is £164. If I buy that through a cashback site I get £78 back bringing it down to £86. Guess who I'll be going with this year.

My main criteria for the breakdown insurance is family cover (there's 4 of us) and relay. You don't get family cover or relay with the halifax ultimate reward, just roadside and home start for the account holder(s). |

Having said I've never had to use the breakdown service which is a feature of my current account, today my wife's car refused to start outside the house. Gave Nationwide Insurance number a ring and an hour later a nice man came and fixed the problem (very minor in the end).Would have towed the car to the Toyota garage in the next town if needed - Great service!

There's a thing, thought Toyota's were impervious to failure, or is that an urban myth my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I admit I hate it, like traveling in a bean can but it's a 13 years old Yaris and this is the first time it has EVER failed in any way which is more than I can say for the Vauxhalls, BMWs and even my beloved Freelander that I have owned in the same time period!!! |
