England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Narvik Black
Victim of break in - Alarm question

This afternoon 'Black Betty' was broken into.
We parked up in a quiet layby and went off for a walk and on returning found that the tailgate window had been smashed and the car contents searched. Luckily we don't keep anything too valuable inside and just a bag of clothing and a zip pouch of small tools taken.
The car was unlocked and I noticed that the dashboard alarm LED was flashing rapidly.
Is this an indication that the alarm was activated?
Does anyone know how long the alarm will sound or would it have stopped if the low life had unlocked the car from the inside? Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

sorry to hear that, unfortunately all too common and a sign of the times.

I would imagine that when s/he broke your window the alarm would go off, but after that I'm not sure.

no doubt someone will come along shortly and enlighten us.

From the Owners Manual (2007)

The alarm status is displayed by the indicator.
• Indicator off - alarm disarmed.
• Indicator flashes once per second - alarm
is armed and engine immobilised.
• Indicator flashes rapidly - the alarm has
been triggered.
Note: The alarm status indicator will flash
rapidly when the alarm has been disarmed, but
the remote has not been docked and the
ignition switched on.

That is assuming the alarm actually sounded.

Two presses on the Fob, one to lock, two to Alarm and Deadlock, if it was Deadlocked can they open the doors?

No, if deadlocked they would not have been able to unlock the doors, this being the reason for deadlocks.

Seems like it was a one press lock, if deadlocked the thief would have had to come out the way he went in.
