How often do you get Flashed at?

Maybe a stupid question but in my 2008 HSE which has xenon lights (I don't think they are adaptive) I repeatedly get flashed by other drivers who seem to think I have my full beam on.

I just wanted to know how often other drivers are flashed at -is being flashed twice per day normal? Or is there something wrong with my alignment?

I have been flashed a couple of times, so recently have meddled with the levels and now it seems to have stopped, although when passing vehicles I can see that the cut off on the near side is catching their mirror and sometimes they protest but tough I ain't dropping the beam for that.

not keen on seeing Xenons

I find Xenon headlights on on-coming vehicles are usually distracting to me! Shocked

To me they shout "I can see really well now, and I'm not fussed about other drivers!" Evil or Very Mad Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Very disappointed by this thread, the title promised so much. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

Haha thought you'd like it!

I can't manually adjust mine in the cabin and believe they are self levelling - would this be checked at MOT? Is there some other manual way of adjusting under the bonnet?

I do feel sorry for oncoming drivers especially round here on the narrow unlit roads so if there is some reason why mine are aligned incorrectly I would like to do something abought it (without damaging what I can see when I'm driving down the dark country lanes! Whistle Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

link showing adjustment

I did it with trial and error, no longer dazzle anyone oncoming, the 'kick up" on the nearside catches other cars mirrors, not sure that can be avoided.

I have an 09 HSE, are Xenon lights standard on that year? I assumed I just had standard bulbs.

I don't know if they were standard or if the first owner added them as an extra. Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

Would have been an Optional Extra or the owner has fitted them, check to see if you have the knurled Headlight Leveling Switch, if it was standard fit the adjuster won't be there. The only Freelanders that have the Xenons as standard is the HSE Lux or the Metropolis iirc.

I fitted xenons to mine and I set them up EXACTLY on the MOT beam tester. I was getting flashed occasionally so I set them down one notch on the adjuster in the cabin and haven't been flashed since. Maybe I should have set them with a full tank of fuel.

Hey Taztastic, how did you adjust them? Under the bonnet or in the cabin? I don't have an adjuster in the cabin to alter the level. Current 2008 Freel2 HSE
