Terra clean

Not having tried this myself, just wondering people's thought and or experience of having a terra clean done.
http://www.terraclean.co.uk/

I made an enquiry and was quoted £95 for a 2.2 Diesel FL2. Mine has a full service history and has just turned 90 000. In this day and age of running cost, anything to assist with MPG is it a good thing or a placebo effect?

Thought and or experience below please Sheep

Big article on Terra Clean in recent BMW-related magazine ('Performance BMW' i think?). Seems to be very good according to the article and also endorsed by Edd China ! Article talks about genuine reductions in emissions and improvemnts in MPG IIRC. Re-read the article this week when i was in the Ashford International Hotel ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

I sort of remember this episode... now if it does what it says and actually cleaning the deposits on an older car is or a bad thing it may be worth it....

I met the owner at top gear live last year, was a very nice chap. I was going to get mine done but the local specilast were useless when I contacted them so decided against it. Freelander 2, 2014 Dynamic SD4 Santorini Black

starting to worry that no one knew what the heck I was on about. Ashford international isn't that far from me, but if your company is paying, try eastwell manor Very Happy

May go for this next month, waiting to hear from real world experience from people.

So having read the site I'm still not sure what it does.... does it curclate around the engine cleaning fluid like when a central heating system is flushed or some thing else?

Not sure if a similar thing will happen using Terraclean but my Dad puts Reddex into his Disco 3.

Had it in the garage the other day for a new alternator and when on the diagnostic machine it showed one of the valves was reacting slightly slower then the others ( not the engine valves but something to do with emissions )

Week or so later and the engine managment light came on, pluggining it onto the machine it was the same valve playing up, triggering a sensor.

Bloke in garage rekons he gets it all the time on Landrovers & its because of the use of products like Reddex. He said using them is not the problem, its engines not having them in from new. Without them in the valves become worn but get clogged up with carbon ect so the sensors dont register a problem, as soon as the engine is cleaned the sensor then picks up its not running right, and engine managment lights start comming on.

Beside the Freelander I have a 20 year old car with 155k on the clock that just scrapes through emissions testing, wondering if I should do it for that. Hmmmm.

This is my only concern and I did chat about it.... That said looked at the vids above and its different to redex which I've used in the past.

More research to do yet including a possible tweet to edd China to ask about the above.....

....inconclusive..... Also leads to the question on a good service and filters and oil change before or after.....
