Mine is 7 years old and not done that so it isn't a design fault.

Our key has done the same, put it down to probably too large a metal ring for the thickness of plastic (poor design IMO) and rough handling by the previous owner.
As to weather it is covered by warranty you would need to look at the small print and interpret what they mean by it, but it must be worth asking.

As an aside, fixed ours by drilling at an angle and using a smaller ring.

80,000 miles with my last one, looked as good as new when it went back, it's not a design issue its a use issue. Thumbs Up

Agree on use, ours looked like that when we got it at 40 000 miles.
However it's a shame they didn't use a similar design to the jaguar key fob of the same era, which is a more robust design for those who aren't quite as careful.

Doesn't the Fob come with a small ring about 5mm, so you attach the 5mm ring to whatever you choose, a bigger ring will not have the articulation that a smaller one has so in places like your pocket it's putting the Fob case under pressure?

@Tiny Tim, can't see it being a warranty job, it's modified from the original spec.

Both my key fobs have the 5mm ring. Both still going strong.
