I'm sure it has been said before, but I'll say it again....

I've not been driving long, less than 4 years, so don't have a huge amount of experience with cars. I have owned a Nissan Micra (the Manly Micra) then a Kia Sportage, as well as having access to the car my wife droves, an A4 Avant. For far longer than I've been driving I have always been attracted to the Freelander. Don't know why, just have. Then the opportunity arose to get rid of the Sportage which although less than a year old, I hated with a passion. Most miserable car to drive ever, despite being loaded with lovely toys.

I immediately traded it in for an MY11 FL2 and am hooked. There are fewer toys and it has had more problems than all our other cars combined, but, I still smile every time I get in and every time Inset off. I would not swap it for the world.

Strange that a car can have that effect isn't it? I never thought Id love driving the way I do when I'm in my FL2, but I do.

I assume others here feel the same? How long does it last before the issues overwhelm the love?

Think there should be a seperate topic on the psychology of the FL2. Why it' makes people so happy!!

Normally i wouldn't care, but this car just has something.. maybe many things.
The French call it Je n'e sais pa or sumfink or uvver.

Despite the faults still an amazing drive and yes, it puts a smile on my face everyday...when it's working. lol

Do you think Evoque drivers feel the same, which mean it must be a Land Rover link.. or if it's just FL2s then it's a car thing!!

I'm at the other end of the driving time line from Chuck - driving since 1961. Freelander still makes me smile every time (mind you, driving in Cornwall does help!). Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I fear I wont want any other brand now will avoid any chances to drive a Defender or a Disco tho in case they are even better!

It must be the Rover part of the name as I see many comments the same when I am on various MG Rover forums!! Particularly MG cars. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

After 6 1/2 years with our first Freelander 2, I still enjoyed driving it and the novelty factor never wore off.

Then my second after a year of ownership feels just the same. I am fortunate not to have had any problems with either car.

I think it is the fact that the Freelander 2's may have a few shortfalls compared to offerings from Audi and BMW, but that gives the Land Rovers character and soul.

MM that made me smile I clearly over generalised a bit. Round where I love Evoques are so common and it is all a certain type of person dropping their kids off at school - never seen mud on any of them.
