Dud key fob

As stated on another post I have recently bought a 2007 Freelander 2 from a main dealer. I have found that the second key fob does not work. I only drive locally and therefore took the car on an 140 mile run just to charge the battery on the fob. After locking the car on the drive the fob would not open the car again. I am going back to the dealer to try and get a replacement due to the fact it has never worked from buying the vehicle.
If I fail (always prepare for the worst) I have found a company in Blaby (LE8 4GZ) called Remotefob centre Ltd who offer the replace the rechargeable batter for £44 which is a lot less than the dealers replacement cost of a new fob. Has anybody used this company and how did they get on? Thanks

You can do it a lot cheaper if you have any soldering skills or know anyone that can solder, as the battery can be bought for about £6. Do a search on the forum as there are details of how to do it and even a video on you tube I think.

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame

If it's the same as mine it's not the battery at all.

There's a small bump moulded on the inside of the case which presses a surface mount switch on the circuit board. Over time that bump wears down and doesn't make proper contact with the switch. I just opened up the case, cut a small piece of card to fit inside the recess where the bump is and it all worked again.
