Ruffwear Boots (try not to laugh!)

My ageing labrador is now suffering from hip dysplasia and arthritis and has started dragging his feet when walking. I've bitten the bullet and bought him these to prevent sores;

http://www.ruff-it.co.uk/brands/ruffwear/r...boots.html

I've not received them yet but the instuctions on the website suggest you shouldn't laugh at them when they wear them for the first time. The video below illustrates this may be difficult!!!!!

Laughing
I didn't laugh, I just had a little giggle.
But that was because of similar predicament I'm currently going through.

I'm just breaking in a new pair of slipper boots that I got for Christmas ....
... and that's how I feel I'm walking in them. Laughing

Seriously, I hope they work out well for your dog. Thumbs Up

A lady walks past my office daily with her Westie wearing boots, walks normally so they must get used to them eventually Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We have a pair for when our Springers cut their pads beating/shooting, worryingly regularly. One of them decides to also chew their pads when cut too.

Hilarious to watch for the first 10 mins as they refuse to bend their legs when walking.

Did it take your Springer's long to get used to the boots Gingerlord? Mine is a little unsteady on his feet so we thought we would get him used to them around the house. I can see the benefit for working dogs, particularly springers. I used to walk with a couple who spent the vast majority of their time in thick brambles looking for rabbits. Great dogs and possibly my next choice when my lab decides he has had enough.

Our friend bought some for their Retreiver when he tore one of his pads. He got along fine with them.

Not long at all, probably half an hour max and gets less the more they wear them. Often we stick them on before crating at night to make sure they dont chew their pads to bits overnight and in the morning they seem to have forgotton they have them on.
