Qashqai voted "Top Dog"

Interesting advert on the back of Camping & Caravanning mag from Nissan making the most of he Qashqai being voted Tow Car 2014 overall winner.

The ad states "When the Skoda Octavia, VW Passat, Jaguar XF and Land Rover Discovery were put head to head against the Nissan Qashqai in the Tow Car awards, nothing came close".

They didn't exactly go head to head as they were all in different weight categories. And the others did come close as each dropped a couple of points in the assessment of their capabilities, except the Disco which only dropped one point.

The money no object winner was the RRS 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic. That would be my chioce too but my money does object a little. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Nothing comes close to a Land Rover.....get real Nissan. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

I was confused with the towcar of the year awards this year, the article said they were impressed with the high nose weight of 100kgs on the quashqai. I have a problem with this as it pretty much rules out the continental caravan market as they normally have a 100kg plus nose weight, so it is only really suitable for the uk market which is quite crap.

The fl2 can take up to 250kg limit. Land rovers are in a completely different league when it comes to towing.

"Freelander 250kg nose weight limit "........... !
All Alko and Winterhoff hitches have a limit of 100kg - exceed that at your peril.

The 250kg limit is only any good for farm trailers and the like (or horse boxes ?). FL2 2007 57 GS

My winterhoff on my caravan is rated at 150kgs. That's what my manual says. Comes on the bpw chassis which is used more abroad. So no peril for me.

Maybe they rate them lower when on the alko chassis.

This gives a clearer understanding of what class the Nissan won:

Obviously the Disco is still the best towing car.
