Well Thirsday last week was the first anniversary of us collecting our HSE Lux.
Can't beleive a year has passed so quickly! So how has it been and what are my thoughts?
Reliability wise, the only issue we had was a squeaky passenger door mirror when it folds, but this was sorted on its service a few weeks ago. A bit of silicon lubricant appears to have solved the issue.
Other than that, we have done 10400 miles since taking delivery and the car now has just over 20,000 miles on the clock. Cannot fault the reliability.
The bad bits :-
MPG is not as good as I had hoped, general driving is seeing us get an average of around 30/31mpg. But then again, it only has one decent run a week and the rest is purely town work, so I suppose this is not too bad. The old FL2 which was a 56 plate TD4 manual saw an average of about 33/34mpg.
I thought the old Alpine system 15 speaker sound system in the old car was better, as the 17 speaker Meridian system of the new car had a little vibration/buzzing from the dash speakers when the volume was above 20/25. But I may have solved this. I removed the cover on the dash centre speaker and the buzzing went away. So this may have been the problem. Just going to fit three new clips before re-fitting.
Wish I had bought another grey one instead of black! Love black when clean, especially Barolo as it has the red/bronze flip to it in Si light, but it is a bitch to keep the swirl marks off.
That's it regarding the bad bits!
The good bits :-
A better car in every way
Quicker, quieter all round
Tows so much better being the SD4 Auto
The technology side is also far superior.
So over all, been a good first year! I'll hang on to her for another couple of years and then trade up to a DS HSE Lux when the new engine is out. Love the 2.2 but can't see the point in buying a new car with an old engine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
