Performance problems after motor/turbo exchange

Hi all, firstly merry xmas and a happy new year.
I've got a Problem with my 2007 2,2 FL2 SE (230,000 kms) after a recent Motor/Turbo Change and looking for some Feedback from more "experienced" landrover orientated countries than Austria Sad

Here's the history to date:
• Injectors were tested, and 2 were found to be defect and were replaced.
• new 2,2 Ford engine incl diesel pump from the factory used only on the testbed (2009 Version with 1000kms on it) and 45000km Turbo received, installed, and engine ran well with good Performance for about 15mins (despite onboard Computer reading 17ltrs/100kms) - THEN the DPF full error appeared and reduced power by about 80%
• The Errors were reset, and retested - the same Performance (good then bad) then always occured - regardless of how many times we reset it.
• The mechanic then "drilled" the DPF (22mm hole) but the Software Errors still appeared.
• The DPF was then disabled via a Chiptuning Company and we were at least able to drive the car again.

BUT here's the Problem still occuring:
• Fuel consumption is about 30% above normal reading at 135kms/hr on the motorway at around 14ltrs/100km instead of the original 9 ltrs
• There is a LOT of soot/residue in the exhaust and a lot of smoke above 100kms/hr
• Distinct lack of torque under Turbo operations - above 2200 revs

The chiptning guy said there's nothing else he can do
The mechanic said now there's nothing mechanically wrong

So, I don't know if we Need get an updated 2009 ECU Image instead of the 2007 Version we currently have installed?
Is there a plumbing issue with the Turbo supplying too much air, upsetting the fuel mix?
Contact JLR engineers directly, and try to "play" with the configurations/mapping/settings
etc etc etc

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

South Africa 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Ipanema Sand

I've had a similar issue with very high fuel consumption when my turbo was replaced.

Later traced the issue to a torn inter-cooler hose by the throttle body and a loose inter-cooler hose clamp towards the bottom of the same hose assembly.

After the above was sorted my fuel consumption went down to around 7.8ltrs/100km on the motorway.

Might be worth checking on yours Thumbs Up
