Sorry can't help with workshops in Cumbria, but if you are going to the expense of a new steering rack,I would also be tempted to replce the reservoir. It contains a fine mesh filter that is well known for blocking, this causes the pump to cavitate, damages the pump, which fills the steering rack with metal filings. Goodbye pump & rack. £764 isn't so bad, you can get a non LR from Eurocarparts one £497 but then you've got to get it fitted, personally I would go with the LR one for piece of mind instead of an unknown refurb. |

If you don't mind a bit of a drive try Team Valley Land Rover in Gateshead. Well known here and have a good reputation. |

If you have had full LR servicing, contact LR Customer Services, as they may help you. See my post on 'steering knock' due to PS filter clogging, and this is a common problem. I was lucky that LR picked up the whole bill for my 08 reg last week. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto. |
