How do I post pictures here instead of in the gallery?

You go to your gallery select the picture you want and open it by clicking on it.
Under the picture there are several text lines. The last two are " BB Code" and BB Code Full Size"

Its as Matai says

When you click on the picture in your gallery copy the BBCodes in

Martin has asked if people can use the BBCode instead of the BBCode Full size as the picture is smaller and uses less bandwidth/makes site faster too

You can use the Full sized option if there is finer detail in the picture than is need to be seen

He was doing only 22 mph because he was off-roading.
