Hi

Has anyone had a Westfalia detatchable towbar fitted to a FL2 ?

I did yesterday, (£345.00 inc elec) without the ball fitted its realy neat, all you can see is the housing & elec socket.

My question, when the towball is in place it looks off centre, ie looks skewed left by about 3/4 inch, we measured everything and it seems central but it looks really odd.

Can you post a photo so I can compare with my removable towbar fitting

Just because you have a towbar, us caravaners don't assume you'll be towing a caravan, like non caravaners jump at.

If you don't want to be a grockle thats fine by me, but I quite like been a tourist in this country and others

What is the origin of the word 'grockle'?

This slightly dismissive term for a 'tourist' was, as several of our readers have noted, first popularized because of its use by the characters in the film The System (1962), which is set in the Devon resort of Torquay during the tourist season. Some older dictionaries suggested that this might be a West Country dialect word. Other scholars have suggested that it might originate in a comparison of red-faced tourists (in baggy clothing with handkerchiefs on their heads) to 'Grock', the famous clown. Sorry about that, when I stand at the back of the car, me and anyone who looks, including the fitter says its bent (off centre)

When I take a picture it does not look bent, thats why I didny post any.

It is about 1/2 to 3/4" out in my reckoning, the fitter has emailed Westfalia, guess what, no reply as yet.

is there any identical points for reference at each side you can take a measurement from

End of Right tow bar bracket to Hitch Joint = ??
End of Left bracket to Hitch Joint = ??
End of Right bracket to tow ball = ??
End of Left bracket to tow ball = ??

Is there any measurement from a diagram you could compare to? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have just looked for a westafellia towbar for the FL2 are you sure they got the correct tow bar for 07 onwards cars?

It states FL2 in the instruction manual

I dont get the links, they seem to be just contractual stuff ?

I have just taken some measurements

from the outside edge of the far right parking sensor to the centre of the towball it meaures 1.50 cm less than from the opposite side, ie. it is canted 1.50cm to the right looking at the back of the car, never right in a month of Sundays

This is the spec from the instruction booklet that came with the towball.



As you can see, it is for a MY 07 onwards, my car is Oct 07 XS

Very odd I think.

Just checked mine for comparison, rogern - the towball is slap bang in the middle (equal distance from each sensor)  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.
