Gvif help needed from someone whos done it please

Hey guys. Having issues with this.

Got the gvif and correct freelander 2 lead from hids4u.

Wired up power and reverse leads, plugged gvif cable in. Connected reverse camera and a external source from a camcorder to test.

When i put car in reverse nav screen briefing flickers as if its trying to change source but only see nav screen.

When i select av source all i get is a flickering white image with occassional black diagonal lines through it.

Checked dip switchs are set to not bypass the sources im trying and checked set to landrover not lexus.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Colin

Are you sure you have the right lead as i got a gvif from there and the lead was wrong.
I cut and spliced the cable i had and had the same problem, I ended up sending it back for a refund.
there is a link somewhere that sells the right one but it comes from asia somewhere. I6 WITH GAS CONVERSION

Just fitted one myself from HIDS4U. Had the same problem and after investigation found that the GVIF in/out cable (the white plug with six wires that plugs into GVIF in/out socket) needed to be modified.

Looking at the plug as bought , the sequence of wire colours is Black, purple, brown, black, purple brown.

To modify reverse pins 2 and 3 and 5 and 6 so sequence becomes black brown, purple, black, brown, purple. Wires can be changed over by VERY carefully lifting the small plastic tabs and removing the pins from the plastic plug. I used a magnifying glass and jewellers screwdriver and it was much easier than I thought it would be. No need to touch the black wires.

Hope the above makes sense, mine is now working as it should Very Happy

Hi Colin,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Wondering if you can help me as I'm wanting to install the GVIF interface.

Could you tell me what GVIF and Freelander 2 lead you got from HIDS4U please? Was it these?

I did also find this one http://www.hids4u.co.uk/Land-Rover-Discove...creen.html via another thread on here or Disco3 but I don't need the reversing camera as I already have one.

Cheers,

How does it work, do you need the sat nav on for it work or will it kick in even if you are screen saver?
Thanks.

Cheers Colin. Just to confirm you need both the loom and the adapter cable?

The unit itself comes with a gvif cable for the disco. The second cable is actuly a lexus cable but connectors are same as freelander. So you need to cross the cables as per this thread. However i made hid4u aware of this so they might be swapping the pins over before it leaves factory now

Gibraltar 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Fuji White

Hi guys

Hope you dont mind me reviving this thread. I'm looking at installing one of these myself . any advice, pictures, etc, on how to achieve this. Specifically on how the cabling works between GVIF unit and the nav system that's under the seat?

I see comments about this only working on Nav Screen, not screensaver. Can this be modified? I'd want this to work from Home Screen.

And finally, if i fit this GVIF, along with my new Xtrons 9" headrest DVDs, should i be concerned with the extra load on the battery?

thanks guys Thumbs Up

I was told this will only work while the sat nav was on.

It will only work on the nav screen mate. The way it works is the output on the sat nav is fed into the gvif then the output of gvif is plugged into the removed lead going to the screen. So it basicly replaces the satnav image with the camera feed.

Drain is minimal. Its very low amperage.
