MOT failure insurance

My 07 Td4 is due it's most soon and I've been paying the 65 sovs a month extended warranty...part of which is this mot failure insurance up to £750...has anyone ever claimed or used it???
Do I have to have the car serviced at the stealers to claim on it?

I had the same and claimed

Always services at main dealer anyway, but there's a £50 excess and you have to pay authorise upfront and say you pay if not covered

My handbrake failed and I got my rear discs and pads done all for £50

Interesting - I had the same conversation yesterday.

My 10 TD4 is due its second MOT next month but as I have the MOT cover with the LR warranty I called my local LR dealer to ask how it worked. Basically you can get it MOTd anywhere and if it fails you have your standard 10 days to get it repaired before retest. In that time you would contact the warranty people who can check the MOT failure as it is all accessible and they can then in theory authorise payment.

As the dealer will do the MOT I figured I would be as well getting it done there and if any repairs were needed they would contact the warranty people and hopefully get it all sorted.

That's all in their mind...

I asked my LR dealer about MOT and the extended warranty and he said similar but they "take it down the road" to a local MOT place as they don't do it themselves. Clearly it's not worth installing the gear for MOTs in a place where most of their work is on cars that are not old enough for it.
My wife's Peugeot recently failed on MOT broken rear springs at Kwik Fit (£29) and I replaced them and returned in a week and they retested free.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if mine goes down the road too, but I would prefer LR to call the warranty folks rather than an indie. Could be me just being daft but if work is going to get done for free may as well get LR dealer to do it.

Yup, I think I'll get the MOT done at the stealer, then get the servicing done at indie. it's around half the price !

What can a stealer do an indie cant??? nothing !

I can honestly see no point in ever going back to a stealer every again! Maybe except to purchase the car.

Mmmmmmm, as I understand it, only Dealers and Authorised Sevice Centres have access to Sotware Updates, either LR are releasing it to Uncle Tom (least likely) or someone is spinning a yarn (most probable) or some folding is being exchanged with someone at the dealership.

Certainly Mike at MMP Land Rover (site sponsor on one of the Disco sister sites) was offering software upgrades on a few models.

Those repairers with the appropriate diagnostic equipment are more than capable of doing software updates Thumbs Up
