I read this and thought I would try to see what happens.. Lots of snow where I am by the way.

My understanding was the winter park position was to lift them enough for the hinge points to flex to then lift them off the screen without hitting the bonnet,thus preventing them freezing to the screen overnight. I could be wrong though 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"

If wipers are left set to AUTO will they start immediately you turn ignition on if the screen has snow on it?

If you look at the red freelanders wiper park position and mine you will notice that mines come to a rest further up the screen. A typical Land Rover no two cars are ever the same |

Mine are nearly at the top of their cycle when in winter park mode, I think the earlier models rested higher up. |
