I read this and thought I would try to see what happens.. Lots of snow where I am by the way.

I held the wiper switch all the way down whilst turning the ignition off. The wipers moves to a vertical position. When I switched the ignition back on the wipers did not move until I turned them on again.

This works for me as I have been caught out before having left the wipers 'on' and came back to thick snow. They tried to operate straight away. Luckily caused no damage.

I never knew about this but I will be using it in future when I have parked out in the snow. Just don't want to cause damage whilst the wipers will try and operate with six inches of snow on my screen

Drove to work with winter wiper park on and the wipers distracted me. I thought I could live with it but sadly no. I'm assuming all you folks manually select it when parking up? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

My understanding was the winter park position was to lift them enough for the hinge points to flex to then lift them off the screen without hitting the bonnet,thus preventing them freezing to the screen overnight. I could be wrong though 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"

If wipers are left set to AUTO will they start immediately you turn ignition on if the screen has snow on it?

If so, I must remember to turn AUTO wipers off. Jules

Mine are nearly at the top of their cycle when in winter park mode, I think the earlier models rested higher up.
