United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Ipanema Sand
Different wheel size on same axle

I have a set of 235/60/18 alloys from my last Freelander with winter tyres on in the garage, and my new car has 255/55/19's.
Am I going to cause damage if I use one wheel of whatever set are not on the car as a temporary spare, or does the side wall measurement negate any potential damage as the rolling surface is similar ?

So a 19" spare in winter with three 18's, or a 18" spare in Summer with three 19's.
Has anyone done this and were there any problems ?

Will be no problem with temporary use. I have 18's on my one with a 17" spare from new.

If your 19inch tyre size is correct they are oversize and the same as a disco3? Shocked

Oops. Me getting it wrong mate. Possibly 235/55/19. I don't pick it up until Saturday so can't check.

Use the tyre size comparison calculator at the bottom of this page to give you an idea of the difference in size between different size/aspect ratios.

http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator

All the standard FL2 tyres are 235mm in width. It's just the aspect ratio that changes as you go up in size. The 17's are 65, 18's are 60 and the 19's are 55. The difference in circumference between the 17 and 19 is .54%. The calculator says to stay between +/- 2.5% so there's no problem. Difference is even smaller between the 17" and 18" tyres or the 18" and 19" tyres. Thumbs Up

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

The spare on my 2007 Freelander was a Goodyear Wrangler HP AW 235/65/17 on a steel rim while the tyres fitted to the vehicle were Continental 4x4 Contacts.

Surely not? A 15" wheel would be ridiculously small.

The first one I had came with the 17" steel Pennysaver, the other four were 18" which was normal at the time, but 15" Shocked

Except for the early models that were released on 16" wheels, they were 215 75 16.
