Forward facing speed cameras

I was on a dual carriage way last night in a residential area of Halifax, cars were parked up in places in lane 1 so in effect it was a single carriage way. I saw an ambulance with blue lights on coming up from behind so I pulled to the side, I wasn't speeding at all, if anything slowing down but I pulled into a gap where a forward facing speed camera was. Just as I crossed the 3 white lines on the road just before the camera so did the ambulance and the camera flashed.

Now I know I wasn't speeding as I had almost stopped (due to a car being parked on the road side) but does anyone know how the camera operator can tell which vehicle in this situation was speeding?? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Common sense by the Scamera Partnership should indicate which vehicle tripped the camera, however, as we all know, common sense has all but vanished from this country and its civil servants. If you get a brown envelope, please update this thread.

It might be worth looking at this as well: www.driveprotect.co.uk Foraging near Gaydon....

I heard of a case recently but forget where when a car was in a queue at red lights with cameras, an ambulance needed to get through so the car moved forward & tripped the camera. The driver got a fine & when he/she contested it they were not let off.
Needless to say if that happens to me I will wait for the lights to turn green!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Personally I don't think anything will happen, I'm just more curious than anything else. Besides the ambulance had its blue lights on and the location was quite close to the local hospital so I would think this kind of thing happens all the time. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Stevie
1st responders usually advise their control room when they have gone through and triggered a camera whilst on a blue light run. As the ambulance can be seen with its blues on, and the time will be logged on the 999 system, you shouldn't have any problems. They advise the authority who enforces the speed cameras.

The white lines are used to confirm speed excess, two pics taken and distance can be measured, you should have no problems. Forward facing cameras were developed so the drivers face can be seen hence no doubt of drivers identity.

You may notice most emergency vehicles now have a permanently on blue light when on emergency calls. This should be captured by the camera. Agreement with camera bodies is is aslong as blue light can be seen no NIP issued unless excessive speed noted. We never bat an eyelid about activations at work as this process works, it would be totally unmanageable if we had to report every activation, I do loads in the area i work Wink
