Don't think there is a how-to posted anywhere, but it's definitely possible to retrofit the factory camera.

Being a tight northerner, I recently fitted a cheap (£40) one off eblag and am pleasantly surprised how good it is. Having previously driven vehicles with factory fit's, apart from it being stuck to the windscreen and less than a 2 inch bit off cable showing from the dash center grill to the screen, can't distinguish the picture quality from a factory fit.
