Spotted running away on M40

OK... so I posted this on the D3 site but here it is again as its more relevant here Wink

I tried to follow a disguised one on the M40 the other day... no chance !

Damn thing was like a rocket ship with little black bursts of smoke each time it accelerated away from me. Driver was obviously having fun but I was not too keen on his undertaking on the motorway trying to get round slower cars.

Got to Gaydon and it very quickly whizzed up the slip road (no break lights - which were working by the way) which was a shock as its a VERY tight one when exiting from the London bound side. Martin will verify that.

Impressed me it did - should be a good little mover when it launches.

Well, anything's got to drive better than the current FL. It's sounding quite an improvement from what we've been hearing/seeing these past few days. Looks like you've stood this site up just in time for all the juicy bits, Martin. 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE

Maybe it was Freelander with the engine from the GT40 in it... how's that for a test mule? Wink 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE

Simon, do you reckon it would have left the SC too? I guess being smaller and lower it would handle better, but it would be a bit of a gamble making it out perform the performance model!

would be a gamble I agree... but then most manufacturers make pocket rockets that are quicker than their more expensive models... not sure.

All I remember was it appeared damn quick to me and the traffic on the motorways was moving quite quickly. Wasn't dodging around slow moving traffic.

Then again... if a development vehicle it may well have been set up as pokey as possible to stress the drive-train etc ???

Will have to see if I spot another on my many trips down the M40.
