United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Loire Blue
freelander 1 2002 rear tail gate issue

Can anyone experienced with the rear tail gate windows please help advice needed.
I borrowed a freelander of my dad who had it since new, yestuarday whilst opening the boot I noticed the rear glass won't go down properly to clear the top of the roof to open you need to persuade the glass down manually. The window closes fine when shut is this a failing regulator Rolling Eyes

This is a common fault. It is unlikely to be the regulator motor itself but the regulator nylon gear wheel with worn/ chipped teeth (cannot be obtained separately) or simply the steel cables sticking due to strands snapped and jamming the mechanism.

I bought a repair kit (cables) from a well known auction site and spent hours getting it right on my wife's FL1. I got it working fine despite ideally needing at least three hands to fit it. However, a few days later it was sticking again. So, don't go down that route. Buy a complete repair kit which includes all the cables, motor and gearbox. I did this and the job was much simpler and only took about an hour to fit. The Land Rover price is about £160, I believe, but I found a one online from another manufacturer for about £60 with good reviews so I bought that and it's been fine ever since. I have been looking to see if I had details of the make but looks like I didn't keep a record - sorry.

What Colin said..it is usually down to a frayed cable in my experience & can be accompanied by a graunching noise!

There are repair kits available on eBay for reasonable money.
