Believe it or not, we are almost a year into ownership of our second FL2! So I am sorting out the service.

It has been a long time since I had the second service done on the old car, so what prices have you been quoted.

I have got a fix price of £395 all in from my local LR dealer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Sounds about right Mav, the Midlands average is about £400 Foraging near Gaydon....

Been quoted £449 at Yeovil LR for a "B" service.

From memory, £300 A service, £350 B service at main LR dealership. I did tend to play one off against the other and have Allegiance discount.

I've just had a second year service in Glasgow last week. First quote was £473 plus £24 for a courtesy car for insurance. After a bit of haggling managed to get that down to £420 including service and courtesy car. Went ahead with that but still expensive.

If you ever get up north try team valley Land Rover, they did an excellent job on the B service on mine recently and a very competitive price

You can cut cost by providing your own oil. Dealers charge more than double compared to major supermarkets when Mobil or Castrol on special offer.

An example from 2 years ago Dealer price 13 units @ £9.95 plus VAT= £155.22. Castrol Edge was £39.95 per 4 litre can, used spare 2 litre for next oil change. Therefore £60 per change.

Dont ask where the 13 units came from (oil change inc filter is 5.8Lit) I queried this with dealer service manager asking if , assume 1 unit =1/2 litre do you give me 1/2 litre as a top up, NO we do not, please explain your pricing I asked, answer from service manager was "that a parts department matter".
Outcome was no explanation but 15% off total bill and told I could supply my own oil in future if I wished to do so.

Not a problem this time as current (year old) FL2 came with 2nd and 3rd service included. All FL2's (3) Gone
