Views on diesel cleaners/additives

I was wondering what experience people have with various diesel additives like Forte or 44K etc etc?

I spoke to an MOT tester who said that if he ever got a diesel car that failed on emissions he would pour a can of Forte into the tanks and tell the client to drive it a three or four miles at high revs and then bring it back. After that he had never had a failure. My local indy always puts diesel cleaner through during a service (don't know which one).
So what experiences/views do members have?

I have been using a normal type fuel/injector cleaning from Halfords, for the last 5/6 tank fulls and when my injectors went in for testing they were all perfect working order. Can only say from this that it might of helped them in some way or they might of been good anyways Laughing

Seems to have given a tiny bit better mpg but might be in my head, guess as they end of the day it cant hurt to try

I've used Forte Turbo Cleaner; followed with Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment in all my cars, cleans the injectors and EGR too. Cataclean is another good product.

I also use Forte Diesel Treatment and Turbo Cleaner, the specialist highly recommends it, I also use nothing but Premium Diesel all year round.

We had Forte come to a garage and mot station that I used to run to sell us their products to be used during service. They told us it would take an hour or so but asked us to have a car of our choosing for the demonstration (preferably one that was in for service as the oil would need to be changed after the demonstration). We used a Focus and they asked us to take it for a hard drive to warm it up properly which we did. We then checked the compressions and the emissions. They then added a can of flush to the oil and a can of fuel treatment to the tank and told us to give it another run, which I did. We then checked the compressions an the emissions and they had both improved. We used their products from then on and several customers claimed an improvement in performance and fuel consumption after service.

Back in Jan 2012 Iasked if anyone knew what additive my local LR dealer (Matford, Exeter) was using when my previous FL2 was in for a service. Turned out it was Wynns System Diesel Cleaner, don't know if they still use it as part of their servicing schedule but I did buy 2 bottles from an Audi dealership on e-bay at half the price shown on my service invoice and they're still on a shelf in my garage. Probably won't use them as I now fill up with premium diesel. 11 GS Bali Blue
07 GS FL2. Usually muddy. Gone
Numerous LRs since 1963
