They certainly don't do it favours, as someone said the Scotia has a strong green tinge, I do like that colour, I wonder, is it the lower roofline that gives it the extra length, along with the Hofmeister kink which has been used, I believe that design has been used to create the appearance of a longer car?

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Looked at one in Duckworth's showroom on Monday. White with black roof, black wheels. As a car it looked ok though the rear quarter view looks a bit bulbous. A bit Marmite IMO. No way tempted to part with £46k for it!

I think it's 80 or 90mm longer than the Fl2, and add the low sloped roof and it gives the impression of being longer than it is. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Orkney Grey

A pal of mine is just back from a car auction and bidding was very brisk on FL2's. Word on the street is the new DS is just tooooo expensive for the majority of punters so FL2 prices should hold up for some time. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I think the biggest favour they have done us is renaming. If it was called freelander 3 it may have more effect on the 2

Thumbs Up

Although I must add that in my case however as a buyer - I could have had any DS or even a FL3 if they kept the name but saw the spec, availability and price of the run-out model too good to miss SD4 HSE Lux

Why do they all have black glass at the back? Maybe LR marketing gurus have ugly children.

Mrs B and I went to Ripon LR on Sunday to see Firenze HSE Luxury in the showroom and, much to my surprise, got invited to take a 10-min spin in a grey HSE auto (they'd said test drive late Feb). It drives well and is nicely kitted out. The 2 rear seats are big enough for short journeys or short people! The grandchildren will love them and we can then all go places in one car.

Maggie's latest idea about replacing her 8y old Scenic (near useless in winter) is that I should get a DS and she takes over my FL2. Hmm... there goes a trade-in opportunity, best keep saving up!

SE and SE Tech will be coming to Ripon later this month, an auto and a manual to test drive properly. Salesman will let me try one overnight so I can check in/out the garage and have a good trial. Told him I'm waiting for an Ingenium engine (NB the first one with the new engine will be 2WD to give headline CO2 numbers) Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Firenze Red

I went the caravan show at the secc in Glasgow today. There was a DS on show , it must have been the top spec as it was priced at just under £49k. The interior was black and even with the sun roof it was extremely clostrophobic . The middle row of seats don't really live upto the stadium seating , leg room was good but the view out of the windscreen wasn't that great. The thing that really got on Censored was that I couldn't stand under the tailgate . I'm 6'2" and I kept banging my head on it. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

I'd bet on the tailgate not being fully open. I'm also 6'2" and haven't had a problem with the tailgate on any of the DS I've had the pleasure of using.

Tailgate was fully opened , I opened it. There was enough headroom where the glass is , but any other part I was stotting my head . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Interested by j77's remark about the DS not being suited to the Fuji White. I've ordered the White, as after configuring all colours, I decided it looked best. Followed by Corris Grey and Santorini. I've had my FL2 GS for seven years in Santorini and it really suited it, but it looks slightly wrong on the DS for some reason. Whereas, I've seen lots of Evoques in Fuji, and they look gorgeous, plus the front half of the vehicle is not too different, and that finalised it for me.

I can't understand the fixation with contrast roofs. My dealer had a DS SE Tech in silver with a black roof and it looked wrong, ditto white with a black roof, so I'm sticking with body colour roof.

J77's Loire Blue should also be a good colour choice though. Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

I think all white it would look better, but all the ones I've seen have the black pack.
